When does a roof need replacing rather than repairing?
There comes a point where patching stops making sense. If your old tile roof is cracking, growing lichen and shedding ridge capping, or your metal roof has rusted through at the laps and screws, you are throwing good money after bad with another repair. A leak that keeps coming back is usually telling you the roof itself is past it.
Old concrete tiles also put a lot of weight on the frame, and porous tiles soak up water and stay damp. Replacing the whole roof with Colorbond steel gives you a clean, watertight system from the battens up, so you stop worrying every time a southerly blows in.

Yes, and it is one of the most common jobs we do. We strip off the old tiles, check and replace battens where needed, install new sarking, then lay your new Colorbond roof. The lighter steel also takes weight off the frame, which is a real benefit on older homes.
It depends on the size of the roof, its pitch, how easy it is to access, and whether you are coming off old tile or old metal. For that reason we never quote a firm figure sight unseen. The honest answer is that David will come out, measure up and give you a free written quote with no surprises.
Most homes are done within a few days, though weather and roof size play a part. We work in a way that keeps your home weatherproof throughout, so you are never left exposed if rain comes through. We will give you a realistic timeframe when we quote.
A properly installed Colorbond roof is built to last well beyond 30 years with very little upkeep. Steel will not crack, soak up water or grow lichen the way old tiles do, so you spend far less time and money maintaining it.
Yes. A full re-roof includes new ridge capping, flashings and gutters so the whole system is fresh and watertight. There is no point laying new sheeting over tired old gutters and rusted flashings, as that is where leaks tend to start.
